My dad's parents, Grandpa & Grandma Stoscup were friends of "The Dawsons". It was Mr. Dawson, (shown below on the right-hand side) who was also a professional photographer for General Motors, that took my parents' wedding photographs on their day the 7th of January 1950.
This photo was taken at another wedding in which two new in-laws shake hands. (I am not certain of the fellow's name on the left.)
Although Mr. Dawson's first name escapes us today, we have a record of his wife's name, Mrs. Ada Dawson.
Hope Lutheran Church was attended by my mother's family for many years. We continued to be members with that church until 1964 when we relocated to Holy Cross Lutheran in Livonia, MI

This photo was not used but I still like it. The photo which was selected is found here: http://tinyurl.com/3jr2q6n
Marjorie's sister Betty Johnson extends a hand (left) as Maid of Honor and behind her is longtime friend Marjorie Geibel. To the right is Dorothy White (wife of my dad's support Frank White.)

Something old, something new: What I enjoyed most about scanning these photographs is the fact we went back to the original proofs. My parents' wedding album contains a wonderfully cropped selection of photographs, but here for the first time in well over 60 years we can see the original compositions. In this one, for example, the organist and ceiling were completely removed and now we can get a more complete view of the ceremony.
It's official! Mr. & Mrs. R C Stoscup begin a new life.
Uncle Bill Stoscup is 'featured' in the extreme right-hand corner for the first time since 1950.
Mom & Dad greet Dad's Aunt Marie. Next to her is husband Charlie Stoskopf. Behind them is Mom's dad Gordon Findahl and Dad's mother Anna Stoscup.

I have used the photograph of my parents and their parents earlier and it can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/5sjrctz
In that photo Mom & Dad have his parents Anna & Wilfred Stoscup on the left and her parents, Martha & Gordon Findahl on the right.

The origin of this photograph is not certain. It wasn't used anywhere and was also not included within the original proofs.

An early vacation together in Northern Michigan 1950.
What I like noticing is the contrast between the professional Black & White photos and these private early Color snapshots.
If you select this picture and enlarge it you can vaguely see people in the extreme upper right-hand corner, which help lend scale to the landscape.
All of the original prints of these early color photos are almost completely erased. I had a lot of fun trying to 'bring them back to life'.

I particularly enjoy the grainy quality of the picture along with the pastel rendering of the colors. It brings out a dream-like appearance to these images.

Mom's 24th birthday - 1952
These color photographs had one in the batch labeled as being from 1951. They were processed in March of 1952. This is Uncle Bill Stoscup at my parents' new home in Detroit, MI.
Mom's new kitchen....
...and bedroom. (Sorry Mom!.. These just look so 'early-Fifties' to me I had to include them.)
A revelation: The home I grew up in as I never knew it, without a backyard fence or landscaping, as the shadows of two newlyweds look on.

New garage. I remember when it was split right down the middle and expanded to a two-car garage.
Mom's Christmas Office Party (1952) for the Ford Motor Company Accounting Department which was held at the home of fellow employee Ed Albrecht and his family. The Albrecht family are at the bottom center. Behind them seated is Margie Stoscup and behind her (partially hidden) is Robert Stoscup.
Easter 1953 at the home of Wilfred & Anna Stoscup. Seated guests are (from left to right) the family of Grandpa Wilfred's sister, Arnette Maves: Douglas Maves (Aunt Arnette's son), Arnette Stoskopf Maves, Douglas Maves' wife Peggy, my dad's brother Uncle Gordon Stoscup, son Don Maves, Arnette's husband Paul Maves, Dad's brother Uncle Billy Stoscup, Dad Robert Stoscup, Grandma Anna Stoscup, Mom Marjorie Stoscup, son Ken Maves and probably the hidden person behind him is his wife. Grandpa Wilfred Stoscup most likely took the photograph.
Aunt Arnette was the lady present that helped keep my dad alive when he was born after the delivering physician had pretty much written him off.
Speaking of the Stoscup Grandparents, I just happened upon a very rare postcard with the handwriting of Anna G Stoscup. It is recorded by my mother as being from "Copper Harbor, MI - June 1952, Mom & Dad Stoscup & boys" the boys being my Uncles Gordon & Bill Stoscup.
